Design and Engineering Project currently houses the center and the architecture, design, and engineering collections of the Library of Congress which have grown to more than five million items, including books and periodicals, manuscripts, maps, prints and drawings, photographs and motion pictures, and other special format materials and are said to be unmatched in scope and richness, much of their content remains unknown to either scholars or the general public.

Library of Congress collection contains over 29,000 searchable images of 20th-century architecture and interior design in America of architectural subjects, including interiors and exteriors of homes, stores, offices, factories, historic buildings, and other structures taken from the northeastern United States, and Florida, included are the homes of notable Americans, such as Raymond Loewy, and of several U.S. presidents, as well as color images of the 1939-40 New York Worlds Fair.
